Adapted programs are available for individuals with special needs in order to promote the development of physical, emotional, and social skills. These programs are sponsored by the Yaks Give Back Foundation and are designed by a skilled occupational therapist with Move U (https://themoveu.com). Classes may also be supported by gymnastics and/or ninja instructors provided by All American Gymnastics Academy.
Adapted Gymnastics Class for Individuals
This class was designed for children ages 4-11 years of old who have impaired mobility and may utilize a walker or other assistive device for mobility. Common diagnoses associated with this impairment may include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain injury, and other movement disorders. The class will be taught by a skilled occupational therapist as well as a school-aged gymnastics instructor. Depending on the number of class participants and the level of independence of your child, assistance of care providers may be requested. Superhero Strength and Stability The goal of this class offering is to enhance strength and core stability as well as generalized coordination and balance utilizing fun and motivating activity. This won't be a typical gymnastics or ninja class but will utilize some of the same materials that regularly scheduled classes may offer. This class is appropriate for individuals who have developmental, strength, balance, and/or coordination challenges. Classes will be offered to two different age groups. Preschool Aged (3-6 years old) and School Aged (6-10 years old).The class will be taught by a skilled occupational therapist as well as a school-aged gymnastics or ninja instructor. Athletes are welcome to wear a leotard or any clothing that is comfortable to move around in. Please avoid baggy clothing as that can get in the way when your child is on the equipment. Please avoid articles of clothing that have zippers, snaps, and/or buttons, or require a belt.
