AAGA offers school-age gymnastics classes which consist of progression and drills to prepare athletes to compete. A special focus is placed on the development of strength, flexibility, and coordination. These classes are great for multi-sport athletes or athletes hoping to one day compete in gymnastics.

Once a week for athletes who are at least 6 years old

No experience is needed here! All classes will begin with a fun and fast-paced activity to raise the heart rate and prepare the body. Skill mastery will lead to the next level.
The following skills will be taught at this beginner level:
Vault – running form, straight jump, squat on, and tree falls (handstand to flatback)
Bars – Students should be able to hold themselves for at least 3 seconds on the bar, front supports, forward dismounts, casting, and start a pullover.
Beam – basic mounts and dismounts, walk-in high releve, perform a pivot, leg balances, levers, straight jump.
Floor – forward and backward roll, handstand, cartwheel, round-off, bridge hold for 10 seconds, candlestick for 10 seconds, a kneeling bridge.

The students will be introduced to more complex tumbling techniques and more focus on the foundation of vertical movement on the balance beam and floor.
In White Star classes, the student begins with approximately 25 skills. Gymnasts will continue perfecting old skills in addition to building new skills; working to further aspects of the foundation of gymnastics and body awareness.
While mastering basic gymnastics terminology, they will be more focused on basic progressions as well as simple combinations to progress their gymnastic abilities.
Vault – running form, straight jump with arm circle motion, handstand flatback (tree falls), handstand hops, squat on
Bars – pullover, casts, back hip circle, sole circle straddle on dismount, back push-off dismount, under swing dismount, squat on to a bar while holding with hands.
Beam – mount, arabesque, lever, walks, heel-snap turns (begin to learn), straight & tuck jump, split jump (low beam), side handstand dismount, handstand (low beam)
Floor – roundoff, backward pike roll, backbend, bridge-kick over, handstand into a bridge, leaps, 1/2 turns, heel-snap turns on the floor.

This class is structured for students with advanced skills to prepare the student for the Developmental Program or the Xcel Program.
At this level, your daughter will learn the following skills:
Vault – running form, handstand flatback, handstand holds, handstand hops, handstand to bridge, begin front handspring if ready.
Bars – chin hold pullover, back hip circle, leg cuts, pike sole circle dismount, cast to 45 degrees with straight arms, pullover routine for Bronze level.
Beam – straddle mount, 1/2 turn, split jump, English handstand, cartwheel (low beam)
Floor – split-straight jump, handstand forward roll, backward roll to pushup, back and front walkover, front and back handspring, power hurdle roundoff.

Once a week for athletes who are aged 8-13 years old.

At the Navy level, the gymnasts have achieved all the basic skills necessary to perform more complex skills on all 4 events. Gymnasts are working at a competitive level without the pressure of competition. This level is great for those girls who want to continue learning upper-level gymnastics but have no desire to compete or want to compete in the near future.
Your daughter will learn the following skills:
Vault – running form, table vaults (handstand flatback & front handspring)
Bars – kips, front hip circles, squat on to the high bar skills, under swing dismounts
Beam – mounts, cartwheel, full turn, jump combinations, back walkover (low beam), twist-off dismounts
Floor – round-off back handspring combination, back extension roll, front walkover, front handspring, back handspring.

School-age Clinics are a great way to gain and polish new skills. Enrollment happens within the week of the clinic. Check back frequently for updates. .
Our classes are built on a four-tier system. Red = Beginner, White = Intermediate, and Blue = Advanced, Navy = Necessary skills for next program, but does not meet age requirement. If you are uncertain about which class to join, please call to visit with us about placement or an evaluation.
Our policy at AAGA is to offer 2 makeups per session for recreational classes. If your athlete misses class, you are able to attend an Open Gym free of charge. Come to the Gym during open gym time and talk to the Front Desk about making up a class. We do not make up missed classes in another instructional class. *Different policy applies if the Gym is closed for a Holiday.
No, barefoot is best! Except for Ninja Core classes – socks and shoes are required for Ninja Core.
Our recreational students are welcome to wear a leotard or any clothing that is comfortable to move around in. Please avoid baggy clothing as that can get in the way when your child is on the equipment. Please avoid articles of clothing that have zippers, snaps, and/or buttons, or require a belt.
If your athlete is enrolled in multiple classes we offer a $10.00 discount for the second class.
If you have siblings enrolled on the same account, the additional athlete’s classes are discounted 5%.
Our classes are billed on a 4-week cycle at AAGA. We always bill on Mondays. Here is a template of our schedule. Please let us know if you have further questions!
Week 0: The Monday of the week prior to the session begins you will be charged for weeks 1-4
Week 4: You will be charged for the next four weeks of the session (weeks 5-8). This charge will be applied Monday of week 4.
If there is only one child in attendance, the class will be half of the scheduled time. This is for your child’s safety, performance & recovery!
At the beginning of the session, if a class has fewer than 3 children enrolled AAGA reserves the right to cancel the class.
Our Cancellation Policy States that if for any reason you wish to drop a recreational class, we require a 30-day written notice that must be received by the All American Gymnastics front office at the time of the request.
